Hi everyone! I'm Lauren. Some people call me Lo. I'm your typical girl. I love everything girly. I grew up loving makeup, bows, and anything pink and glittery. In highschool my love of hair began slowly. I always loved going to the salon to get my own hair cut and colored, and would always go home and re-style it just how I liked it. My mom always teased me as I re-did the beautiful style the stylist had just created, saying I should think about going to beauty school. Although I loved doing my own hair, I wondered if i would like doing other people's hair. I began experimenting with color on friends hair, and even dabbled in some up-dos and makeup for special events. My love for the art of doing hair continued to blossom into a dream that I never realized I had. Heading into college, I knew I loved doing hair but didn't know where I wanted to go with it. I thought going to college and getting a business degree would be perfect so one day I could own my own salon. Although the college experience of meeting friends and being independent was a blast- I had no interest in business law, or accounting. It was halfway through my sophomore year of college that I realized, I am way too creative for this. I want to follow my dream and I want to start now...

I toured many beauty schools, and ultimately decided on the Aveda Institute Denver. I was so thrilled to finally be doing what I love and one day make it my career! After 15 months of working on mannequin heads and models, attending countless cutting and coloring classes, and practicing for state board exams- I finally graduated and soon became a licensed cosmetologist for the state of Colorado. Before I had even graduated from beauty school, I had my first job lined up at a wonderful salon in Boulder. It was there that I learned many valuable color and cut techniques that would change the way I did hair forever. In school they teach you the basics, after school- you learn to jump out of the box and really explore. I was able to do that with my first job. Leaving Boulder, and coming back to Denver I went to another Aveda salon where I again learned a lot and grew so much as a stylist. After being in the Aveda world for many years, I decided to really push the edge and be my own boss. I'm finally living out my dream of being a business owner and I'm loving every second of it. The freedom, the challenges, the creativity, the excitement. Every day is something new and I love that. My passion and love for hair has grown so much in the past 6 months and I am so excited to see what the next 10 years has in store for me in this wonderful industry!
